How to Start AION 2 Global: Download, Steam or PURPLE, Region, and Server

AION 2 Global has been free to play on PC since October 5, 2026, and you download it from Steam or from PURPLE, NC’s own launcher. You don’t need a Korean or Taiwanese account: when you open the game you pick a region, then a faction (Elyos or Asmodian), and finally a server inside that region. From Europe you play on the Europe region; from the Americas, on a North America or Latin America region.

This guide gathers what you have to decide before you create your character, because some of those choices — region, server, faction — cost time or money to undo later. The details come from the official notices NC published on Steam between October 4 and 14. Server lists change, so always check the latest official notice. Steam or PURPLE: which do I download?

Both options give you the same Global game and the same servers.

If you already use Steam, that’s the easiest path. Note that AION 2 has no mobile version: searches like “aion 2 download android” or “aion 2 on phone” lead to fake pages or to other games. Don’t install an APK from an unknown source.

PC requirements

From the Steam store page:

On the minimum spec, NC recommends the Very Low graphics preset at 1080p. If storage is tight, install on an SSD — load times on a mechanical hard drive are long.

Is the game in English?

Yes. English is a full language option, with English, Korean, and Japanese voice-over; English, Spanish, and Brazilian Portuguese are available for text and subtitles. You don’t need a third-party translation patch, and you should avoid “patches” from unknown sites.

Which region to pick

You pick the region first. According to the “New Server and Matchmaking Information” notice, these regions were live at launch:

• Europe — the region with the most servers.
• North America East and North America West.
• Latin America — for Mexico, Argentina, Chile, Colombia, Peru, and so on.
• Asia.

Pick the closest region for a good ping. Your friends have to be on the same region and server to play together in the open world, though instanced content such as dungeons is cross-server.

Faction and server: what you need to know

In AION 2, each server hosts a single faction. Every Elyos server is paired with an Asmodian one, and you meet that rival faction in the Abyss and in the space-time Rifts. NC re-pairs servers from time to time to balance the factions.

Tips when choosing:

1. Agree with your group before you create a character. Faction and server have to match.
2. New servers are usually less crowded. On October 8, Nathara (Elyos) and Tassin (Asmodian) opened in Europe, and NC encouraged players to join the newer servers.
3. Switching later isn’t instant. In October’s early windows a transfer costs 0 Quna (you only pay 1,000 Quna per extra character slot you need on the destination), but it opens only on specific dates and times, and each server has a cap on how many can enter or leave. First steps after creating your character

• Claim your launch rewards. Pre-registration and Steam wishlist rewards are delivered by in-game mail to anyone who creates an account and logs in before the maintenance on December 1, 2026 (PST): a pet chest and consumables like potions, resurrection stones, and scrolls. The mail expires on December 8.
• Pick a class without rushing. If you’re unsure what to play, see our class tier list for beginners.
• Follow the main story. It is almost the entire experience from level 1 to 45, the Season 1 level cap. Around level 22 the story pauses until you fill the Ascension bar; that’s explained in the 1–45 leveling guide.
• Don’t buy Kinah from outside sellers. NC posted a notice about illicit currency purchases on October 4, and since October 11 it has published near-daily lists of accounts restricted for macros, bots, and real-money trading.

Common first-day problems

What if you don’t have time for the daily grind?

AION 2 asks for a fair amount of time: story to 45, gathering, dailies, the Abyss, pets. Keep the risks in mind. NC restricts accounts for bots and unauthorized programs, and every third-party tool carries that risk.
