AION 2 Release Date and How to Download: Global, Taiwan and Korea

AION 2 is already out, so there is nothing left to wait for. The Global version launched on October 5, 2026 at 6:00 AM PDT (15:00 CEST) on Steam and PURPLE, free to play, after a Founder’s Pack Advance Access that started on September 30. Korea and Taiwan launched almost a year earlier, on November 19, 2025 (Korean time), through NC’s PURPLE launcher.

If you searched “aion 2 release date”, the real decision now is which version to play and how to install it. Below is the full timeline, which region to pick, step-by-step download for Steam and PURPLE, and the questions people ask most in the first week.

AION 2 release date timeline

The Global dates come from NC’s official Steam announcements (“AION 2 Will Launch On Time”, the Advance Access pre-download notice and the server announcements). The Korea and Taiwan dates come from NC’s 2025 launch reveal as reported by Korean media; check the local official site for exact historic times.

Release date in Europe? There was no separate EU date. Europe launched together with the rest of Global on October 5, and the 15:00 CEST start applied to Germany, France and the rest of the EU region. You pick Europe as your region inside the game.

Mobile release date? The Korean and Taiwan versions also have mobile apps (NC Taiwan’s App Store listing asks for iOS/iPadOS 15+ and 6 GB of RAM). For Global, NC’s Launch FAQ only commits to Windows PC; no Global mobile date has been announced, so treat any “AION 2 Global mobile” date you see as rumor until an official notice says otherwise. Steam Deck, Linux and controllers are not officially supported on Global either.

Which version should you play?

The three services are completely separate. NC’s Global Launch FAQ confirms that Korean and Taiwan characters and progress do not carry over to Global.

For almost everyone reading this in English, Global is the right choice. Korea is ahead on content but players report that registration needs a Korean phone or i-PIN verification, which most foreigners cannot complete. Taiwan is aimed at Traditional Chinese players, and Global itself is not offered in some regions.

How to download AION 2 on Steam

1. Open the AION 2 store page on Steam (app ID 3393110) and click Play Game. The game is free.
2. Install and launch. You can play straight away with your Steam account; NC says Steam players do not have to link a PURPLE account.
3. If you joined the Launch Scale Test, uninstall the old Playtest app first. It is not the retail client.

How to download AION 2 on PURPLE

1. Create an NC account with your email.
2. Install the PURPLE launcher, sign in and search for AION 2.
3. Download the Global version. Steam and PURPLE share the same servers and content, so you are not missing anything. If you want to play the same character on both, link the two accounts.

System requirements and download size

Steam lists Windows 10/11 64-bit, a GTX 1050 Ti and 8 GB RAM as the minimum, and an RTX 2070 with 16 GB RAM as recommended. Both tiers ask for 100 GB of free space, and an SSD is strongly advised. Choosing a region and server

On first launch you choose a region, then a faction, then a server. Global has North America East, North America West, Europe, South America and Asia. Each server holds one faction only, and Elyos and Asmodian servers are paired: the enemies you meet in the Abyss come from your paired server, and NC adjusts the pairings over time. Picked the wrong one? Server transfers exist but are limited to the same region and faction, once per account during the transfer period, with hourly slots. Our server transfer checklist covers the rules.

Don’t skip the launch rewards. NC’s official notice says that anyone who creates an account and logs in before the December 1 maintenance (11:30 PM PST) receives the pre-registration and wishlist rewards by in-game mail. Details: launch rewards for everyone.

Common launch questions

Is AION 2 free to play? Yes. Global is free, with an optional monthly membership, cosmetics and a Battle Pass.

Can I play Global with my Korean or Taiwan account? No. You start fresh on Global.

Is AION 2 on PlayStation or Xbox? No console version has been announced for Global. Check official notices for changes.

Is the game still populated? Steam peaked near 398,000 concurrent players on launch day and still had over 200,000 twelve days later; see our player count breakdown.

After the download: setting up Aion2 Bot

Once the game runs, the slow part is leveling, dailies and farming. Aion2 Bot (Aion.Onl) detects Global (including Steam), Taiwan and Korean clients automatically; you can set one game path per service or leave it empty for auto-detection, and choose the region when you add a Global account. A few things to get right first:

• Set your resolution before installing. Fullscreen is supported, but the resolution can’t be changed after installation. See setup and crash fixes.
• Single Steam client is the easiest start: launch one Steam game and press F10 in game. Multi-client control from the Control Center needs the PURPLE client; see Can you multibox in AION 2?
• Your card key must include the server you play. Otherwise the menu shows a region restriction warning.

Get the client from the download center. New users get a free 3-hour test card after registering at user.aion.onl, and tutorials and support are on Telegram. We use advanced anti-detection technology to protect your account as far as possible, but every third-party tool carries a risk of penalties, and NC has announced several ban waves against unauthorized programs on Global.
