AION 2 Steam Players Must Remove the Playtest App and Download the Release Client for September 30

NC’s post-test Steam announcement includes an important launch-preparation step for anyone who joined the AION 2 Launch Scale Test: Steam players must uninstall the separate Playtest App and download AION 2 again for Advanced Access.

The test client will not simply become the release client, so players who joined the September 17–18 Launch Scale Test should check their library before September 30 rather than waiting until Advanced Access begins.

Steam and PURPLE have different post-test steps

NC separates the two platforms in its instructions:

  • Steam players must uninstall the Playtest App and download AION 2 separately.
  • PURPLE players do not need to take an additional client-removal step after the test.

Progress made during the Launch Scale Test also does not transfer into Advanced Access or the full release.

Key launch dates

The current official schedule remains:

  • Advanced Access: September 30 through October 4
  • Full release: October 5

Advanced Access requires an eligible Founder’s Pack.

This client-transition guidance comes from the Steam Global announcement and does not describe Korea or Taiwan client handling. Players with slower connections or limited drive space may want to clear the Playtest App before the release download becomes relevant.
