NVIDIA 617.14 Adds Game Ready Support for AION 2 Ahead of DLSS 4.5 Global Launch
AION 2’s global PC release has moved another step from marketing promises into launch preparation. NVIDIA released GeForce Game Ready Driver 617.14 WHQL on September 22, and AION 2 is explicitly included in the driver’s Game Ready lineup.
That matters because the game is now inside NVIDIA’s shipping driver cycle before Founder’s Pack Advanced Access begins on September 30, rather than waiting for a launch-day or post-launch optimization package.
AION 2 is one of four games highlighted in 617.14
NVIDIA’s driver page lists four upcoming PC releases receiving Game Ready support in this package:
- AION 2;
- CONTROL Resonant;
- Gears of War: E-Day;
- The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt – Remastered.
The driver is WHQL certified and available through NVIDIA’s normal download channels and the NVIDIA app.
For players planning to enter AION 2 through Steam or PURPLE as soon as Advanced Access opens, the practical takeaway is simple: the launch-oriented GeForce driver is already available before the servers go live.
NVIDIA reconfirms DLSS 4.5 for the global build
In the accompanying Game Ready article, NVIDIA again calls out AION 2 specifically and says the global version will support DLSS 4.5 Super Resolution and Multi Frame Generation when it becomes available to Founder’s Pack players on September 30.
Which exact options appear in-game will still depend on the specific GeForce RTX hardware being used. Driver support should not be read as meaning every RTX generation can enable every feature in the same way.
What is now clear, however, is that AION 2’s global client has entered a formal release-driver support window rather than remaining only an announced future DLSS title.
Large-scale battles will be the real performance test
AION 2 is built on Unreal Engine 5 and sells itself around large environments, unrestricted flight, aerial combat and faction-scale PvP. Those are exactly the kinds of conditions where frame-time consistency can matter more than a high average frame rate in a quiet leveling zone.
The scenarios worth watching after launch include:
- crowded cities and launch-week gathering points;
- Abyss and RvR battles with many players on screen;
- high-resolution play with heavy effects;
- rapid camera and scene changes during flight.
A Game Ready driver does not guarantee perfect performance in any of those situations, but having launch-specific optimization available in advance removes one obvious variable from the first-week PC experience.
617.14 also carries unrelated fixes
The release notes include fixes outside AION 2, including a launch issue affecting several games after driver 616.56 and display-related problems involving certain HDMI and DisplayPort setups.
That makes 617.14 a normal production driver rather than a special AION 2-only package.
The retail client still needs real-world validation
The Launch Scale Test offered an early look at global-client performance, but it is not the same environment players will see during permanent progression. The retail build, launch patches, server population and large-scale RvR load can all change the performance picture.
GeForce users who plan to play on September 30 should therefore treat 617.14 as the current baseline and re-check graphics settings once the retail client is available rather than assuming Launch Scale Test settings will transfer perfectly.
